But the first thing you want to do with him is get to be friends with him, so that he don't grow up hating you -- having a Pokémon who hates you is hands-down the suckiest way to go about a journey. And, you know, it might be best for you to find some other wild Pokémon in the grass and have him knock them out, just for experience.
